Greetings Rogue Valley Jazz Fans,
The next meeting of the Rogue Jazz Exchange will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 4th, at Paschal Winery in Talent. The winery is about 1-3/4 miles off I-5, at 1122 Suncrest Rd. Just take exit 21 and follow the signs to the winery. It's really easy to find. Tell a friend about it.
In keeping with two upcoming Britt Festivals concerts, John Loram will make a presentation on Dave Brubeck. Also, the music of Django Reinhardt will be discussed and demonstrated by guitarists George Rubaloff and Ed Dunsavage and violinist Linda Powers.
Bring your ideas on what subjects you'd like to hear about at future meetings. And, let us know if you're interested leading a presentation/discussion.
There is a new restaurant and lounge in Ashland that will be featuring regional as well as occasional touring jazz artists. It's called Jazbo's Lounge an it is located in the A Street Market Place which is located at 119 A Street. The phone # is 552-JAZZ. This weekend is the grand opening. Music this weekend will feature tonight, Thursday, May 29 the Dempsey/Dunsavage duo, on Friday the Dave Scoginn Trio and on Saturday, Gabriel & The Technicians will perform. Music will start around 7:00 p.m. They've got a nice looking menu and a great bar. Hope to see you there.
The Latin Jazz Quartet plays every Sunday afternoon at the Standing Stone Brewery in Ashland from 3- 6 p.m. On the deck, weather permitting. Great food, micro-brews and jazz.
Monday Night Jazz continues at Martinos Lounge above Macaronis Restaurant with the Martinos Jazz Trio. Music is from 8:30 - 11:30 p.m.
Leslie Kendall sings Streisand. A special evening of music at the Old Siskiyou Barn on Monday, June 16 at 7:30 at the Old Siskiyou Barn. Tickets for this show are $18.00 and reservations can be made by calling 541-488-3869 or emailing jazzbookings@aol.com
The Siskiyou Institute will be presenting a Summer Piano concert series at the Old Siskiyou Barn. These concerts will help raise the necessary matching funds for music education grants awarded to the Siskiyou Institute which is a nonprofit organization.
On Thursday, June 26 Portland pianist Tom Grant. will perform with bassist Dave Captein and on Sunday, August 17, pianist John Nilsen will perform.
