World Wellness Weekend Sept. 11-12 with Deepak Chopra, Bernie Siegel,  65 classes, 90 Exhibitors and More!

The much anticipated World Wellness Weekend, featuring doctors and  authors Deepak Chopra and Bernie Siegel; 64 classes, 80 exhibitors and  main stage entertainment is this weekend, Sept. 11 and 12 at Ashland's  S.O.U.  Raider Stadium from 10:00 am until 7:30 pm.

Deepak Chopra was named by Time Magazine as one of the top 100 icons of  the 20th Century.  He is acknowledged as one of the world's  leaders in  the field of mind-body medicine.  Formerly the Chief of Staff at Boston  Regional Medical Center, Dr. Chopra built a successful  endocrinologypractice in Boston in the 1980's. Chopra realized in his  medical practice that there was potential in western medicine for the  establishment of a new life-giving paradigm, one which encompassed the  fundamental principle that perfect health is more than just the  absenceof disease. He is widely credited with melding modern theories  of quantum physics with the timeless wisdom of ancient cultures. In  1992, he served on the National Institutes of Health Ad Hoc Panel on  Alternative Medicine.  He will be presenting an all new program created  specifically for  World Wellness Weekend.

Dr. Bernie Siegel, MD is one of the world's foremost physicians,  authors, motivational speakers and advocates for individuals facing the  challenges of a chronic illness.  His many articles, best-selling books  (including Love, Medicine, and Miracles), tapes and videos serve as a  testimony to his loving commitment to those who choose to take an  active role in their own healing process. He and his wife, Bobbie, have  introduced the concept of individual and group therapy based on  "carefrontation," a loving,safe, therapeutic confrontation enabling  everyone to understand his or her healing potential. Their Exceptional  Cancer Patient's Program (ECAP), founded in 1978 is based upon this  approach and has helped thousands of cancer patients live happy,  healthy and productive lives.

Southern Oregon University’s Raider Stadium and McNeal Pavillion will  be home for this large, unique event featuring as diverse a collection  of medical, health and wellness, and entertainment professionals as has  ever been assembled.  These health and wellness specialists include classes and lectures from such highly esteemed western MD”s as Drs.  Steven Strum and Michael Stone of Ashland Community Hospital, Dr.Helen  Trew, M.D.,  Bunny Lewis, CNM, Nurse Practitioner, QiGong Masters   Dr.Effie Chow and  Mingtong Gu,  Yoga classes with Steve Bender, DC;  CranioSacral Therapy with Dr. Margaret Stahler, ND and a long list of  other highly qualified professionals.

Going beyond physical medicine, this event also includes classes in  Neuroenergetic Psychology with energy medicine pioneers  Richard and  Shanti Duree,  Salsa Dance class with Christina Cansino,  "The Healing  of Business" by Bob Hall; the S.O.W.A.C. sponsored motivational speaker  Valerie Free, speakingon Optimum Health; and a great deal more. The  film industry is represented with lectures by local filmakers Stephen  Simon (“What Dreams May Come”) and Mark Vicente (“What The #$*! This event benefits SOWAC Microenterprise Development Center, whose  mission is to help people start, expand, or improve their small  business by offering practical, hands-on business training, technical  assistance and loans.During the weekend, SOWAC will be hosting a  special reception with Deepak Chopra for VIP supporters on Sunday,  Sept. 12 at 11:30 am at the Ashland Hills Windmill Inn.

The Ashland Family YMCA will be hosting a “Healthy Kids Program” with  fun and games on site during the event.  They will also be  offering  child care for children ages 3-8.  Children 12 and under are admitted free to the event with an adult as we encourage the entire family to  attend. Weekend Passes are  $50 in advance, $60 day of event.  Single day  tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door.
